Lightsey Serves as President-Elect

Wallace
K. Lightsey serves
as President-Elect of the Foundation. Lightsey is a partner with
Wyche Burgess Freeman & Parham, PA and has been in practice for
24 years. Most of his work consists of trial and appellate
litigation, with a primary emphasis on commercial, corporate and
news media litigation. He also has an active practice litigating
disputes over intellectual property – such as trademark, copyright,
and trade secrets – and in recent years has been lead counsel in
copyright lawsuits involving close to a billion dollars at issue. He
graduated from Duke University summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
He then went to Harvard Law School, where he served as Executive
Editor of the Harvard Law Review and graduated with honors. From
1997-2004, Lightsey served as Chairman of the South Carolina
Commission on Lawyer Conduct. In 2004, he was inducted as a Fellow
of the American College of Trial Lawyers in recognition of his
substantial jury trial experience.
